Community Justice Responds to Wednesday’s House Criminal Justice Subcommittee Meeting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the recent Tennessee House Judiciary Subcommittee on Criminal Justice Meeting, Community Justice’s Executive Director José Alfaro, issued the following statement:

“Few people understand the importance of enacting and implementing policy measures to address our nation’s gun violence epidemic more than those who have lost a loved one to a bullet, like Representative Justin Pearson. We applaud Representative Pearson’s leadership, passion, and dedication to saving lives and his unwavering commitment to spare other families from the trauma that his own family recently suffered.

The urgency to act has never been greater. Lives are at stake, and we proudly stand with survivors of gun violence and the communities closest to the pain who are crafting and demanding commonsense policies that protect our communities.”
