Community Justice Responds to Ghost Gun Ruling Following Supreme Court Decision in Bondi v. VanDerStok

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Bondi v. VanDerStok decision, Community Justice’s Vice President of Policy, Adzi Vokhiwa, issued the following statement:

“Today’s decision in Bondi v. VanDerStok marks an important step forward in the fight for community safety. We applaud the court’s recognition of the urgent need to address the unregulated spread of ghost guns and other unserialized firearms. Over the past decade, ghost guns were increasingly trafficked into impacted communities and also involved in mass shootings, homicides, and other acts of gun violence.

This decision affirms the responsibility of lawmakers and regulatory agencies to close dangerous loopholes and ensure that all firearms are traceable and that people prohibited from accessing firearms cannot easily circumvent the law. Ghost guns pose a direct threat to public safety, particularly in Black and Brown communities already impacted by gun violence.

Community Justice will continue to support common-sense policies that save lives.”
