Washington, D.C. — Following the reelection of Donald Trump, Community Justice remains unwavering in its commitment to address the persistent issue of gun violence and championing community-centered safety in Black and brown neighborhoods.

While the President-elect’s stance does not prioritize gun violence prevention policies, Community Justice remains committed to advocating for systemic change.

“We stand in solidarity with the communities across the nation who are devastated by the election results and rightfully concerned about how the next president may undermine public safety and the progress made over the last few years. This election outcome reminds us that our work must persist, even in challenging times,” said José Alfaro, Executive Director of Community Justice. “While our nation’s leadership may not fully align with our approach, we will continue to build a movement that values community-led safety solutions, trauma support, and policy reform that centers on the well-being of all people, especially those who have been historically overlooked.”

As Vice President Harris said in her concession speech, “we must never give up the fight to keep our schools and our streets safe from gun violence.” Community Justice remains dedicated to elevating the voices of survivors, partnering with advocates, and holding systems accountable to ensure the safety and dignity of our communities.
