Maiyah Alexander

Social Media & Digital Manager

Maiyah Alexander is a digital communications strategist and passionate advocate for equity and justice in Black and Brown communities. Based in Richmond, VA, she currently serves as the Social Media and Digital Manager at Community Justice, where she leads the nonprofit’s digital strategy, brand presence, and audience engagement efforts to end gun violence.

Maiyah brings a powerful mix of storytelling, design, and strategic insight to every campaign she supports. Her work has reached thousands online and been recognized by members of Congress and White House officials for its cultural clarity and impact. From curating real-time content at high-profile events to enhancing websites for accessibility and narrative power, she ensures digital media is a tool for education, mobilization, and empowerment.

Since joining Community Justice, Maiyah has contributed to major campaigns and events, including:

  • Designing the 2023 Violence Prevention Index — the nation’s only comprehensive analysis of city-level anti-violence efforts

  • Developing branded material for the inaugural Reception at the Congressional Black Caucus’ 52nd Annual Legislative Conference alongside the Rocket Foundation

  • Curating content for the first-ever CVI Road Trip for Peace across Texas and supporting federal and state-level initiatives across the country

  • Standing alongside advocates and partners in critical Supreme Court cases such as U.S. v. Rahimi and Bondi v. VanDerStok, and amplifying key prevention bills in Maryland and New York

  • Elevating the movement at SXSW 2025 and responding to harmful federal policies under the Trump administration

An honors graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and inaugural Ram Scholar, Maiyah studied journalism with a focus on amplifying underrepresented voices. She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and continues to blend creativity with advocacy, transforming digital communications into a force for lasting change.

Outside of work, she enjoys fitness training, trying new recipes, traveling with loved ones, and caring for her four-year-old Yorkie, Sully.
