Christina Delgado
National Organizing Manager
Christina Delgado serves as the National Organizing Manager at Community Justice, where she brings a significant depth of personal experience and a robust commitment to advocacy. Her involvement in gun violence prevention efforts began following the tragedy at Santa Fe High School, the first school shooting in Texas. Witnessing the devastating impact on her community and the potential threat to her own children catalyzed her engagement. The subsequent events in Uvalde further underscored systemic disparities in responses to such incidents, strengthening her resolve to advocate for equitable treatment and support, particularly for Black and brown communities. This dedication led to her joining the Community Justice team.
Previously, as the Southwest Regional Advocacy Associate, Ms. Delgado was instrumental in building coalitions of survivors to advance legislative initiatives aimed at supporting individuals and communities affected by gun violence.
Her notable achievements include the successful passage of SB 435, a bill ensuring victim families access to autopsy and medical records. Additionally, she worked closely with Uvalde families to advocate for HB 2744, legislation proposed to raise the age requirement for purchasing assault rifles. She also played a pivotal role in organizing Santa Fe families and other survivors to collaborate with Senator Cornyn's office, contributing to the passage of the Bi-Partisan Safer Communities Act in June 2022. Prior to her advocacy career, Ms. Delgado spent 22 years as a stylist. She is a mother of two, deeply engaged in her community, and volunteers within her daughters' school district.
In her capacity as National Organizing Manager, Ms. Delgado leads Community Justice's efforts to develop and enhance grassroots advocacy in key states. This involves devising and implementing strategic organizing initiatives that amplify community voices, advance policy priorities, and promote government accountability. She collaborates with community violence intervention partners, builds and leads state coalitions, and works in conjunction with internal teams. Christina’s unwavering commitment to racial justice, equity, and community-centered advocacy, coupled with her personal experience and professional acumen, renders her a valuable asset to Community Justice. She is dedicated to providing support to survivors of gun violence and striving to prevent other families from experiencing similar tragedies.
